Oedipus the King (Oedipus Rex)

Oedipus Rex is one of the most significant ancient Greek tragedies and the most famous work of Sophocles.
It was first performed around 429 BC. It belongs to the cycle of three Theban dramas, together with the dramas "Oedipus on the Column" and "Antigone".
There is a plague in the city of Thebes, and the reason for that is some evil that happened many years ago. Oedipus, who has already saved the city by solving the Sphinx riddle, is trying to solve the problem this time as well. He realizes that he is to blame for the evil that is happening, because he killed his father and married his own mother, not knowing the truth about his parents.
This famous drama on the stage of the National Theater in Sarajevo is directed by Slovenian director Diego de Brea as part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the most important cultural institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The play stars: Izudin Bajrović, Mediha Musliović, Slaven Vidak, Vedran Đekić, Emir Fejzić, Dino Bajrović, Damir Čobo and Damir Mašić.
The play " Oedipus the King" was co-produced by the National Theater Sarajevo and the MESS Festival.
