A Guide to New Year’s Eve Celebrations in Sarajevo

Every winter, as well as during the New Year holidays and winter break, Sarajevo – the city that hosted the 1984 Winter Olympic Games – is brimming with visitors and interesting tourism offerings. Whether you choose to do things in town or up on the Olympic Mountains, you are sure to have a great time in Sarajevo.

2017/12/05

The 2018 New Year celebration, as organized by the City Administration of the City of Sarajevo (and its partners: Sarajevo Canton, the Tourist Association of Sarajevo Canton and city municipalities), will be held at Trg Bosne i Hercegovine, in Marijin Dvor, and we also recommend some clubs, restaurants and hotels where you can say goodbye to the “old” year!

The three-day event, which will take place near Sarajevo City Center will start at 9:00 p.m. on December 30, when visitors will have a chance to enjoy performances by young Sarajevo bands and students from the Sarajevo Music Academy. The legendary Zdravko Čolić will say farewell to 2017 with his concert on December 31, and the outstanding Crvena Jabuka will perform on January 1.

The city’s largest holiday manifestation, the Sarajevo Holiday Market, will be held this year at Hastahana-Prof. Dr. Nijaza Durakovića Park in Marijin Dvor. The market will run from December 6, 2017 to January 13, 2018 and there will be performances every night (starting at 9:00 p.m.). The Romansa Tambura Ensemble will be performing amidst the holiday atmosphere at the PAN Winter Pub on New Year’s Eve.

Concerts, live performances and parties

The Sarajevo National Theater is preparing its traditional New Year’s Eve concert by the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra, which will start at 7:30 p.m., with Tomislav Fačini conducting.

Those who love live rock concerts can have some fun at Underground Club, where the Undergrounderi and DJ Sandy will be providing a terrific ambience.

Neno Murić and his band will be performing at Coloseum Club, and Lana Hamza will be performing on the craziest night of the year at the nearby S-One Sky Bar (which is located on the roof-top terrace of the Courtyard by Marriott).
