The 2018 New Year celebration, as organized by the City Administration of the City of Sarajevo (and its partners: Sarajevo Canton, the Tourist Association of Sarajevo Canton and city municipalities), will be held at Trg Bosne i Hercegovine, in Marijin Dvor, and we also recommend some clubs, restaurants and hotels where you can say goodbye to the “old” year!
The three-day event, which will take place near Sarajevo City Center will start at 9:00 p.m. on December 30, when visitors will have a chance to enjoy performances by young Sarajevo bands and students from the Sarajevo Music Academy. The legendary Zdravko Čolić will say farewell to 2017 with his concert on December 31, and the outstanding Crvena Jabuka will perform on January 1.
The city’s largest holiday manifestation, the Sarajevo Holiday Market, will be held this year at Hastahana-Prof. Dr. Nijaza Durakovića Park in Marijin Dvor. The market will run from December 6, 2017 to January 13, 2018 and there will be performances every night (starting at 9:00 p.m.). The Romansa Tambura Ensemble will be performing amidst the holiday atmosphere at the PAN Winter Pub on New Year’s Eve.
Concerts, live performances and parties
The Sarajevo National Theater is preparing its traditional New Year’s Eve concert by the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra, which will start at 7:30 p.m., with Tomislav Fačini conducting.
Neno Murić and his band will be performing at Coloseum Club, and Lana Hamza will be performing on the craziest night of the year at the nearby S-One Sky Bar (which is located on the roof-top terrace of the Courtyard by Marriott).
New Year’s Eve Celebrations at hotels and restaurants
The cost of reservations at most Sarajevo hotels and restaurants includes a seat for the event, a gala dinner and a welcome drink.
Fatmir Sulejmani, Amna Keskin and Alem Kadić & Band will entertain guests in the congress hall at Radon Plaza Hotel; Europe Hotel is organizing a New Year’s Eve party with Berin Buturović and his band; and Holiday Hotel will offer a performance by Enes Begović.
You can enjoy the evening at Hills Hotel with Halid Bešlić; Haris Džinović will be performing at Spa Terme Hotel; and the Serbian band, Slatki Greh, will be performing at Park Hotel in Vogošća.
An unforgettable view of the city and gourmet specialties await you at the restaurant, Bijela Tabija.
Celebrations up on the mountains
During the New Year, hotels on the mountains are at full capacity, as are the fireplace lounges and restaurants. Whether you plan to enjoy a break in one of the hotels or will only be going up to the mountains to celebrate New Year’s Eve, there really is something for everyone on Trebević, Bjelašnica and Jahorina with all of the varied programs being prepared by the hotels.
The attractive Pino Nature Hotel on Mount Trebević will be heading into the wildest night of the year with live music.
As for Bjelašnica, Kenan Hasić, Lejla Čaušević and Sead Hodžić will be performing at the hotel that takes its name from the mountain (Bjelašnica Hotel) and live music and a buffet-style dinner await you at Han Hotel.
The biggest New Year’s Eve party on Mount Jahorina will be held in front of Bistrica Hotel, where Željko Joksimović will be holding a free concert.
The hotels on Jahorina are also lining up a rich program: guests can have some fun with Danijel Đoković, Milica Milić and Luna Band at Koliba Club at Termag Hotel, and also enjoy a performance by Explosive in the hotel itself; and Balkan Beat Band will be playing at Lavina Club.
Whether you are planning your winter vacation and New Year’s Eve in Sarajevo or up on one of the Olympic Mountains, we recommend that you make your reservations for events or accommodation at your desired destination well in advance.
