Laibach is a Slovenian avant-garde music group associated with the industrial, martial, and neo-classical genres.
Formed in Trbovlje (at the time in Yugoslavia) in 1980, Laibach represents the musical wing of the Neue Slowenische Kunst (NSK) (German for New Slovene Art) collective, a group which Laibach helped found in 1984.
The name "Laibach" is the German name for the Slovenian capital Ljubljana (which was unwelcome in Tito's Yugoslavia).
In 1984, the group moved to London and started working as labourers and acted as soldiers in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket.
