Bicycles

It is becoming more popular among Sarajevans to get around town by bike, and the same is true for tourists!

Bicycles are available for rent at many locations during the summer, while an easier option for a short ride is a Next Bike system.

Public bike share system launched Next Bike is available during most of the year, to both Sarajevans and tourists, at very affordable rates at several stations throughout town. Users must first register by phoning the call center and providing a first and last name – activation will take just a few minutes. They may then take a bike and ride it to the desired location and leave it at another parking spot in town.

Service is available at next locations: BBI and Alta Shopping Center, Importanne, at Zmaja od Bosne 47 (Hotel Bristol), municipality Novi Grad, at Sport center Safet Zajko, by the Radon Plaza Hotel, and at Dobrinja.

An annual membership is expected to cost 20 KM and those who are interested may use a bike for 30 minutes free of charge. Thereafter the rate will be 1 KM or 1.50 KM for every hour of use.

Users who have cards for public bicycles in Sarajevo may also access the same services in Croatia (where the system has already been implemented), Poland, Austria and many other cities in Europe

This project will have numerous benefits for local communities, such as protecting the environment, raising people’s awareness of healthy lifestyles, while also improving the tourism offering.

While there are bike lanes in only a few parts of town, some shopping centers do have designated parking spots for bikes, which can also be found at different locations in the city.

If you’d like to go biking outside of town or take an adventurous tour of the mountains, you can find a map of bicycle routes at www.mtb.ba.
