Bijača border crossing now open

The Bijača international border crossing between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia is now open. All work has been completed according to European Union standards and, as the Ljubuški Customs Office is located at the Bijača crossing, customs procedures are carried out in an efficient manner.

This border crossing will help BiH acquire the infrastructure necessary to control the flow of goods and people, since this is the only border crossing, besides the one at Gradiška, to provide total inspection oversight in handling the import of all products of plant and animal origin.

Bijača covers an area of more than 100,000 km2 (5,000 km2 of which are in the open) and there are 18 lanes – nine for entering BiH and nine for exiting.

The crossing has a central building for all UIO customs staff and BiH Customs Police Officers, as well as a building for staff and officers who are responsible for the movement of goods. The facility also includes an object where vehicles larger than 350 m2 are subjected to a thorough inspection, a place for other inspection categories (commercial, phytosanitary and sanitary), as well as a building that provides accommodation for staff from the BiH Veterinary Inspection Office.
