Renovated City Market now open

Markale City Market has opened with a new look that restores its original appearance, which was changed by years of war.

Besides the renovation of the façade and woodwork, the project also included additional illumination for the facility and exterior video surveillance cameras to provide protection for the building.

The City Market, which sells Bosnian products, was designed by August Butsch in 1894 and was opened in 1895.

This National Monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina is counted among the most beautiful Austro-Hungarian buildings in Sarajevo and serves as a tourist attraction in the very center of town.
