We suggest that you take in some of the well-known Sarajevo picnic spots, such as Barice and Čavljak, where you can enjoy wonderful nature and try some of the culinary specialties on offer at the mountain lodges.

The most important event set for October is the 54th Annual International Theater Festival MESS, which will be held from October 3 to 12. This year's edition will feature 25 performances from 18 countries, with plays being staged in Sarajevo, as well as in Zenica, Visoko and Goražde.

Since October in Sarajevo has plenty to do with the theater, we recommend a visit to Despić House, an annex of the Museum of Sarajevo, which houses exhibits that tell the story of a prominent, urban family in Sarajevo during the 18th and 19th centuries.

Actually, it was in Despić House where the first theatrical performances were put on in Sarajevo.
