  • The BiH Parliament building, which is located at Trg Bosne i Herzegovine in the Sarajevo neighborhood of Marijin Dvor, is a monumental structure and is representative of modern architecture.

Preparations for construction commenced as early as 1954, when a design by the famous architect, Juraj Neidhardt, was awarded first place in a design contest. However, the building for the then Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina would be built 28 years later in 1982.

Significant anti-war protests, during which blood was spilled, were held in front of the building on April 5, 1992. During the last war (1992-1995) the BiH Parliament building found itself on the front line, where it suffered heavy damage.

Reconstruction got underway in 1998 and the building’s façade and the plaza in front of the Parliament, Trg Bosne i Herzegovine, were repaired in 2010. The Parliament building shares this plaza with the Building of Friendship Between Greece and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The BiH Parliament occupies over 25,000 m2 of utilized space and is home to all agencies and bodies related to the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, departments of the Council of Ministers of BiH and other Bosnian-Herzegovinian institutions.
