A Guide to New Year’s Celebrations in Sarajevo

The city's main New Year's Eve celebration, which is traditionally organized by the City Administration of the City of Sarajevo, will be held at Trg Bosne i Hercegovine, in the neighborhood, Marijin Dvor. Here we also recommend some of the clubs, restaurants and hotels where you can say goodbye to the “old” year!

Starting at 9:00 p.m., the bands, DJ Duo, After Affair, Yehan Jehan and Divanhana will be keeping everyone entertained at Trg Bosne i Hercegovine, near the SCC shopping complex, then the regional music star, Dino Merlin, will take to the stage to perform a great concert for Sarajevans and visitors to ring in the New Year, along with some spectacular fireworks.

The Sarajevo Holiday Market, which runs until January 14, 2017, is being held at the skate park, Hastahana, in Marijin Dvor. The market will be hosting evening gigs every night at 9:00 p.m. and the Romansa Tamburitza Ensemble is set to give a New Year’s Eve concert at the PAN Winter Pub, which offers its own festive atmosphere.

Concerts, live performances and parties

The Sarajevo National Theater is preparing its traditional New Year’s Eve concert by the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra, which will start at 7:30 p.m. The audience will enjoy works by Rossini, Mendelssohn and Strauss, as well as a performance by the Russian pianist, Sofja Gülbadamova…. Tickets for the concert range from 70KM to 90KM.

Those who love live rock concerts can celebrate at Underground Club, with the Undergrounderi and DJ Sandy providing a great atmosphere. The cost of entry and reservations is 15KM and includes one complimentary drink.

The Brew Pub is preparing a performance by the band, Blues, and admission to this thematic party is free. For 10KM you can enjoy a special New Year’s Eve concert at Monument Club.

Mash Club is lining up a concert by the band, Gospodjo, bate for 25 KM and you can listen to some live rock music at the pub, Charlie Chaplin, where admission is 15KM and includes one free drink.

Neno Murić and his band will be performing at Coloseum Club and reservations run from 40KM to 120KM, depending on where you would like to sit.

If you like to dance, Cinemas Club is planning a New Year’s Eve party with shows by its resident DJs. The cost of admission is 10KM and includes one free drink.

The craziest night of the year will see performances by Amir Groove and Gustavo Cossetti at the S-One Sky Bar, which is located on the roof-top terrace of the Courtyard Hotel by Marriott. After Affair, Forniva and Edib D. will be waiting for you at Silver & Smoke Club.

My Face, on Wilson’s Promenade, will be ringing in the New Year with its two resident DJs, and a ticket worth 20KM will allow guests to access the rich program taking place in a warm holiday atmosphere.

Other clubs and hospitality facilities, such as Tito, ProRock Club Johnny, Blind Tiger, Zmajevac... will be organizing their own New Year’s Eve events.

New Year’s Eve Celebrations at hotels and restaurants

The cost of reservations at Sarajevo hotels and restaurants typically includes a seat for the event, a gala dinner and a welcome drink, and some even offer additional services and bonuses.

Guests at Radon Plaza Hotel will be entertained in the congress hall by Al Dino, Amna Keskin and Alem Kadić. The cost of the event is 120KM and guests can look forward to a gift in the form of a one-day pass for use at the hotel’s wellness center.

The Hotel Europe Group, which includes Europe Hotel and Holiday Hotel, will be organizing a New Year’s Eve party with regional stars; and the restaurant, Nova Bentbaša, will entertain guests with a performance by the Tambura orchestra, Etno Band.

A dinner party awaits you at the restaurant, Bijela Tabija, as well as at Sarajevo Hotel, where Adnan Jakupović and Elvedina Šehić will be playing (reservations for the latter cost 100KM).

Pivnica HS is preparing its own music program with the Artis Tamburitza Orchestra. The cost of attending the New Year’s Eve party is 80KM per person. Tambura musicians will also welcome you at the restaurant, Imidž-T, where the cost of admission is 75KM.

As for other restaurants, you can ring in the New Year with the band, Acoustic, at Druga Kuća for 80KM; and the band, Nobs, will be performing at Prava Priča.

Saraj Hotel, Park Hotel and the restaurant, Bašča kod Ene, are preparing attractive New Year’s Eve programs, with live music and gourmet specialties.

Celebrating on the mountains

During the New Year holiday, hotels up on the mountains are at full capacity, as are the fireplace lounges and restaurants, so whether you are enjoying a break in one of the hotels or will only go up to the mountains to celebrate New Year’s Eve, there really is something for everyone because the hotels on Trebević, Bjelašnica and Jahorina are preparing varied programs.

Pino Nature Hotel, a lively hotel on Mount Trebević, will be heading into the craziest night of the year with live music. The cost of admission is 59KM per person.

As for Bjelašnica, there will be shows by many performers and a buffet-style dinner at the hotel that takes its name from the mountain (Bjelašnica Hotel). Reservations cost 100KM. Maršal Hotel is offering dinner, a New Year’s Eve celebration with the Tambura orchestra, Zlatne Žice, an overnight stay and breakfast, all for 140KM.

The hotels on Mount Jahorina are also lining up a rich program. Guests can have a good time with Žana Prijić and her band from Serbia at the Koliba club in Termag hotel and the cost of the New Year’s Eve party and dinner runs from 80KM to 140KM. You can also enjoy a performance by the band, Pozitiv, from Novi Sad at Lavina club for 140KM (dinner included).

Other New Year’s Eve celebrations on Jahorina will be organized by Vučko Aparthotel, featuring a party with the band, Epic (50KM); and Bistrica Hotel will offer a performance by Extra 5, with reservations costing 70KM.
