The political comedy Narodni poslanik is divided into three acts, and the action deals with the conquest of power, the parliamentarianism and the way a deputy is elected.
At the center of this comedy is a provincial shopkeeper who does not find satisfaction in remaining just a wealthy and respected tradesman, but dreams of becoming a member of the parliament.
He is encouraged by two unscrupulous and ambitious men who believe that they could prosper if he launches a political campaign.
