In Memoriam: Anur Hadžiomerspahić - Exhibition of Prize-winning Work

Retrospective exhibition of prize-winning works by Anur Hadžiomerspahić is opened at the Ars Aevi Art Depot.

At the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Ars Aevi Project, this exhibit will be dedicated to the life and work of Anur Hadžiomerspahić, one of the founders and the art director of Ars Aevi, graphic designer, artist, professor, and a great man which passed away in Sarajevo, on November 29, 2017.

Anur was the recipient of numerous national and international awards and honours, most notably his series of posters, "Human Condition—a Project of Public Shouting and Individual Revolutions," was included in the central exhibition of Venice Biennale—"Plateau of Humankind"—in 2001.

He also received the "Epica Award" in Paris, from the most significant international festival of advertising and graphic design, for his advertising campaign "Count On Me"; the Grand Prix Award for Art Direction at the Triennale in Milan for the advertising campaign "Spin the Bottle"; the Golden Drumstick and Golden Light awards in Portorož in the category of socially engaged poster for "Made in Bosnia—Association for Protecting Humans"; at the Zlatna Koogla in Zagreb, he twice won the award for best design and artwork for an album for the album covers for Edo Maajka; at the traditional group exhibition "Collegium artisticum" in Sarajevo, he was twice awarded the highest Grand Prix; and at the No Limit advertising festival in Sarajevo the advertising agency Ideologija received several awards in various categories and was twice named Agency of the Year, all of which places Anur among the most prominent and the best graphic designers and artists in Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

On the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Ars Aevi Project, we will have the opportunity to view a number of works from different series of posters and print campaigns: Human Condition; Before and After; City Fashion; Illegal Construction; Iskraemeco; Natura Morta; No Limit; Ping; Postcard from Sarajevo; Sarajevsko Pivo; Širbegović Construction Company; Elektroprivreda BiH; VF Supermarket; Muzika na žici; XI Jazzfest Sarajevo; Jasmila Žbanić and War Childhood. CD Cover Design: Amira Medunjanin; Dino Merlin; Edo Maajka; Zabranjeno Pušenje and Letu Štuke, as well as his final artwork from the “Tolerance” exhibition of posters. 


Anur Hadžiomerspahić was born in Sarajevo in 1971. He graduated from the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan and the Accademia di Belle Arti Brera. He received his Master's Degree at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, from the Department of Graphic Design. He was Assistant Professor of Graphic Design and Multimedia at the American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Graphic Design. He was a member of the Association of Applied Artists of Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a young artist, Anur was invited by one of the world’s most prominent art critics and curators, Harald Szeeman to exhibit his work at the 2001 Venice Biennale, and thus had the rare opportunity to be part of the Biennale’s central international selection. 

The exhibition will be open every day from 10:00 to 18:00 at the Ars Aevi Art Depot.
