The Power of Darkness

This performance is based on Leo Tolstoy’s “The Power of Darkness”.

The piece was inspired by real events which happened in Russia a few years before Tolstoy started writing this drama. The darkness and morbidness that Tolstoy tackles in this work form an excellent foundation to test stage possibilities. This is a story of a person’s life in destitution and the ability of a person to commit radical evil.

The performance shows us what happens with people who are being invisible, how they cope with the darkness in themselves. It asks us whether darkness and cruelty that surrounds us can be conquered.
