Type: Sarajevo Nature
The picnic spot, Stojčevac, is located on the periphery of Sarajevo Field, not far from Velika Aleja and Vrelo Bosne, both of which are just a short and pleasant walk away.
Given its position at the foothills of Mount Igman, Stojčevac has plenty of clean, fresh air and summer temperatures are far more agreeable than in the center of town.
With its many species of plants and a little stream which forms a small lake, Stojčevac is an ideal place for an outing in nature.
Before the war in BiH (1992-1995), Stojčevac served as a picnic spot for the communist elite, and it's here that Josip Broz Tito, the President of Yugoslavia and its Communist Leader, had his Sarajevo residence. The villa's underground tunnel also provided a connection to Mount Igman.
The structures in Stojčevac were badly damaged during the war, but the fascinating nature remained largely unaffected.
