The 2017 Balkan Photo Award ceremony was held on January 26 at the National Gallery of BiH, where the best photos from the Balkan Photo Festival, an international photography event, are acknowledged.
An international panel of judges selected winners from among 11 categories from 2017: Best Photograph (5) and Best Documentary Photograph (5). Visitors can see awarded works at exhibit that followed ceremony.
Besides the contest, the Balkan Photo Festival will also be preparing a varied educational program with many lectures and workshops. Visitors can see the main displays, as well as guest exhibits like UNICEF’s “Justice for Every Child.”
The Balkan Photo Festival has been held since 2015 and it picked up where the festival, BiH Photographs of the Year, left off. The latter was started in 2010 by Fotografija.ba and Urban with the aim of creating a common platform for photographers, their contests and professional development.
