On the occasion of the Statehood Day of BiH, on November 25, a cycle of Embraces by academic painter and graphic artist Safet Zec was set up in the History Museum of BiH, and on June 12, visitors will have the opportunity to talk to the author.

In the period from 18:00 to 20:00, Safet Zec will host the museum audience and talk to visitors about this exhibition, and the exhibition itself will be closed on June 15.

This series of paintings of one of BiH’s most important visual artists, which looks at people separated by war, has arrived in Sarajevo after a six-month display in the Church of Santa Maria della Piettà in Venice.

The artist has dealt with this theme since the war of the 1990s, and he completed his series with the painting of the Sarajevo “Romeo and Juliet” – Boško Brkić and Admira Ismić. The 1993 photo of them dying in each other’s arms on Sarajevo’s Vrbanija Bridge shook the world.

Zec is a recipient of the April 6th Award given by the City of Sarajevo, and his works have been displayed in major galleries and museums the world over. During the 1970s, critics referred to him as the primary representative of poetic realism.

You can see part of this artist’s rich work at Zec Studio Collection (Maršala Tita 31/II).
