This museum is not a traditional exhibition space but a true time capsule, offering an authentic, nostalgic glimpse into life in Yugoslavia during the decade before the war, when Sarajevo shone at its brightest.
The exhibition recreates the atmosphere of a socialist era apartment: instead of display cases, you’ll find a fully furnished living room, kitchen, and children’s bedroom packed with objects from the 1980s.
You are welcome to sit on the retro furniture, play with the toys, turn on the old TV, type a letter on a typewriter, or look through the wardrobes where you can even try on vintage clothes.
The collection includes items such as rotary phones, record players, radios, VCRs, early computers, as well as vinyl records, cassettes, badges, and more.
The Sarajevo 80s Museum is located in the heart of the Old Town, at Saliha Huseinbegovića Muvekita 1, and is open daily from 9 AM to 7 PM.
Tickets cost 5 BAM for children, 12 BAM for students, and 15 BAM for adults.
