Sarajevo Light Festival

The first edition of the Sarajevo Light Festival was opened in the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina - November 25, which will last until the Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, March 1, 2024.

All Festival visitors received a Sarajevo Light Festival bracelet along with their invitations/tickets as a gift as a souvenir of their visit. And in the next three months, visitors will receive identical souvenirs at the entrance to the Botanical Garden of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina along with the purchased tickets.

The guests were greeted by prof. Ph.D. Mirsad Sijarić, Director of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who expressed his satisfaction with the fact that after several months of dedication, the Sarajevo Light Festival opened its doors wide to visitors, giving Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina a completely new value on BiH Statehood Day.

Damjan Zalokar spoke in front of the Austrian company MK Illumination, which in cooperation with experts from the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina realized a significant part of the light elements installed as part of the Sarajevo Light Festival. He emphasized that MK Illumination is available to cities, institutions and creatives in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in order to realize unforgettable world-class light experiences together.

On the night of the opening of the Sarajevo Light Festival, the most famous travel influencers in the region - Kristijan and Andrea Iličič, who were also presented with "Sarajevo Light Festival Ambassador" cards in front of the Sarajevo Light Festival and Visit Sarajevo, and whose selfless support will certainly contribute to the promotion of the Light Festival Sarajevo in the region and attracting visitors to the National Museum of BiH, but also tourists to Sarajevo.

The Sarajevo Light Festival was supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Municipality of Centar Sarajevo.

However, the most significant support is expected from the citizens of Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, who, by visiting and spreading the word about this new attraction in Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, will be the most important donors and promoters of the Sarajevo Light Festival and the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the most important cultural and scientific institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

From Thursday, November 29, the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with its partners, will start the campaign "On Thursdays I go to the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina", when during the Sarajevo Light Festival, from 18:30 to 22:00, the entrance will be open not only to the Botanical Garden, but also to the rest of the Museum.

The goal of this campaign is to provide a completely different experience of going out at night, especially to young citizens of Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also to tourists during the winter tourist season, so with the purchased ticket to the Festival of Lights in Sarajevo, they will be able to spend hours exploring all the treasures that the National Museum preserves.
