This year, as it marks the 33th Anniversary of the XIV Winter Olympic Games being held in Sarajevo, BiH's capital city will be offering three skating rinks at various locations, each with their own special ambience.
Addiko Ice Skating Rink
The Addiko Ice Skating Rink was opened in Hastahana Park in Marijin Dvor as part of the 6th Annual Coca-Cola Sarajevo Holiday Market. The Market ran from December 7, 2016 to January 14, 2017, but the skating rink will remain open until February 15.
The rink covers an area of 400 m2 and, thanks to the sponsorship of Addiko Bank and support from Centar Municipality, the skating rink is open for free to all Sarajevans.
Ice skates may be rented for a mere 2KM and the rink works every day from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Skating sessions last one hour, with half-hour breaks in between each session so that the ice can be cleaned and ready for new skaters.
Ice Magic
This is the first year for Ice Magic, a manifestation organized by Novo Sarajevo Municipality. The venue is open to all Sarajevans and includes an ice skating rink at the Open Scene on Wilson's Promenade, near the National Museum and Historical Museum.
The Ice Magic skating rink will be open to all Sarajevans until January 25, 2017 and working hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Skates are available for rent on-site.
Children can learn to skate during the winter school break and a skating school is available for older Sarajevans.
Zetra Olympic Complex
The ice skating rink at Zetra Olympic Complex will be working until February 24, 2017 and you can find out more about the daily schedule by visiting the ZOI '84 Olympic Center webpage.
Rates for services at the Zetra skating rink are cheaper this year: admission is 3KM, coat check is 1KM and skate rentals cost 4KM.
If you would like to learn how to do a jump, toe loop, flip, salchow or axel, or simply learn how to move better on the ice, the skating school will be offering various schedules throughout the month of January. A five-day training session, offered from 18:45 to 19:45, costs 50KM.
