Founded in 1988 as a small family restaurant in one of Sarajevo’s old hillside neighborhoods—mahalas—with a stunning view of the city, Kibe has since become a symbol of fine dining in Sarajevo. Their “wall of fame,” adorned with photos of famous guests, speaks to the lasting impression it leaves on visitors.

The restaurant has grown gradually, with its most recent renovation led by renowned architect Amir Vuk Zec. Today, Kibe includes exclusive suites and an on-site art gallery, making it a mahala of its own.

The story of Kibe is also the story of the Vreto family’s passion and dedication, spanning three generations. It began with the late Sakib “Kibe,” who opened the restaurant as a place to gather with friends. His son Edin expanded the business into one of Sarajevo’s culinary landmarks, and now his grandson Dino, recently graduated from the prestigious César Ritz culinary academy in Switzerland, brings new energy to the family legacy.

Kibe Mahala is located at Vrbanjuša 106. Reservations can be made at +387 33 441 936 or via email at [email protected].
