Bijela Tabija in Digital Format

The association, Digi.ba, has made a 4D virtual presentation of Bijela Tabija with the aim of presenting an overview of the historical development of this object, through a combination of digital storytelling and interactive 3D models for different time periods. These models contain digitized images of archeological finds and their 3D reconstructions.

This fortress is located in Vratnik, on the southeastern edge of what used to be the old town of Sarajevo (known as Bijela Tabija) and it represents one of the most impressive and important historical sites in Sarajevo.

The second phase of the project has been completed and six 3D models of the Tabija – one from the Middle Ages, three from the Ottoman period and two from the Austro-Hungarian period – have been created, showing what the fortification probably looked like during each period. Virtual reconstructions of archeological artifacts from this site have also been created and these items belong to the collection of the Museum of Sarajevo.

The next phase will include the production of a digital story about the fortress throughout history, as well as legends, events and historical figures as they relate to the Tabija. The final 3D models will be placed on the internet as interactive representations and visitors will be able to move through the figures just like in computer games.
