Brusa Bezistan Museum temporarily closed

Brusa Bezistan, one of the annexes of the Museum of Sarajevo, has been temporarily closed due to the flooding that occurred during recent downpours.

Museum staff have been working to clean the facility and clear things up after all of the damage so that the museum can reopen its doors as soon as possible.

The construction of this monumental structure was commissioned long ago (in 1551) by Rustem Pasha Opuković, Grand Vizier to Suleiman the Magnificent, to serve as a place where silk from Bursa could be sold.

Since 2004, it has been home to the fifth annex of the Museum of Sarajevo, housing artifacts from pre-history, antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Ottoman period and the Austro-Hungarian period.
