The photographs feature folkwear from the collection of RKUD’s Proleter, the oldest workers association, which was founded in 1905 during the time of Austro-Hungarian rule. As such, the collection contains many valuable items which bear testimony to the history of this region.
The exhibit is part of the PHOENIX – Culture for the Future Project which, in turn, is part of the Sarajevo 2014 program, which received funding from the EU in marking 100 years since the beginning of the First World War. All of this has been done with the aim of sending a message of peace, tolerance and solidarity from Sarajevo to the rest of the world. The PHOENIX Project has been implemented by the Municipality of Stari Grad, Zone of Improved Business (ZUP) Baščaršija and the Sarajevo Navigator Foundation.
The exhibit will run until November 26 and is open to visitors Monday to Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The association’s premises are located next to Sarajevo City Center, on 2 Dr. Safeta Mujića Street.
