Peace Flame has arrived in Sarajevo

The Peace Flame for the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF), which will be held this year in Sarajevo and East Sarajevo, has arrived in the capital city of BiH.

The Peace Flame was accepted at the Olympic Stadium in Rome by Sarajevo Mayor Abdulah Skaka and East Sarajevo Mayor Nenad Vuković, and the Olympic Torch was handcrafted by Sarajevo coppersmith Nermina Alić.

The EYOF Games will officially get underway on February 10 at Asim Ferhatović Hase Stadium in Sarajevo, and will run until February 16, with venues in both Sarajevo and East Sarajevo.

Athletes from over 50 countries will participate in this major sporting event, which will see more than 1,100 participants and 750 delegates from National Olympic Committees.

Twenty-one young athletes will defend the colors of BiH in five events: alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, biathlon, snowboarding and speed skating.

BiH will have its greatest representation in the cross-country skiing and biathlon events with 10 competitors: Marija Jokić, Anđela Samardžija, Andrija Jugović, Đorđe Santrač, Luka Vrećo, Aleksa Vuković, Predrag Pantić, Uroš Lalović, Davor Škipina and Nikola Gavrilović.

BiH has eight competitors in the alpine skiing category: Esma Alić, Nina Petrović, Aiša Kantardžić, Ajlin Zuhrić, Harun Kunovac, Samir Hasanbegović, Kemal Karić and Strahinja Aranaut.

Asja Klačar and Selina Memić will compete in snowboarding, and Sumeja Zaimović will be representing the colors of BiH in speed skating.
