Sarajevo Zoo is open again

Pioneer Valley Zoo was temporarily closed to visitors while the artificial lakes were being cleaned.

The sediment from the lakes located in the central part of this complex that are home to the ducks and swans has been cleared and the lakes will be refilled during next week after all works are done.

Some parts around lakes are still under renovation so access to this part will be limited until all works are done. All other parts of Pioneer Valley Zoo including children playgrounds are opened to public from Saturday, February 29, from 8 a.m.

In March, Pioneer Valley will work from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day.

Located just two kilometers from the city center and covering an area of 8.5 hectares, the Sarajevo Zoo, or Pionirska Dolina (Pioneer Valley), is a favorite destination among youngsters.

Aside from nature walks and being able to see several dozen species of animals, Pionirska Dolina offers numerous activities and entertainment for children (electric cars, trains, merry-go-rounds...), as well as playgrounds with slides, seesaws, spinning wheels...
