The new red carpet that will be laid out this year in honor of film makers, artists and the public, is a fusion of both the traditional and the modern, bringing together BiH traditions and the art of film.
After conducting extensive research on BiH kilims (flat-weave carpets) in the collection of the National Museum of BiH, the creative SFF team was inspired to come up with a new look for the red carpet by taking elements from a Sarajevo carpet that dates from 1930.
“We hope this will send a powerful message about how colorful and beautiful the City of Sarajevo is. This is a prime example of the talent and creativity behind the promotion of our enduring values, and is an indicator of how young people who are shown trust and given a chance can contribute additional value and strengthen this city and country. A Bosnian carpet in front of the National Theater, before millions of spectators, is an admirable idea,” said Abdulah Skaka, Mayor of Sarajevo.
The 25th SFF will run from August 16 to 23, 2019 with support from UNESCO, and the motto of this year’s edition is “Sarajevo, mon amour.”
