Trebević cable car installation now underway

The demolition of the cable car station at the top of Mount Trebević marks the beginning of the reinstallation of this city symbol and, according to the Mayor of Sarajevo, Ivo Komšić, a cable car should be in place by the time of next year’s Day of the City of Sarajevo (April 6, 2017).

Within the next month, the base station will be demolished to make way for the installation of the two stations and supporting columns which will represent a distance spanning 2,200 meters.

The Trebević Cable Car, the largest in the surrounding area, was first operational in 1959. The “Hrvatin” base station was located in Bistrik and the “Vidikovac” station was up on Mount Trebević.
