The film, Walter Defends Sarajevo (1972), tells the story of Vladimir Valter Perić, leader of Sarajevo’s underground resistance movement when it was occupied by Nazis forces during WWII. Walter was killed just a few hours before the city was finally liberated while defending what was then the city’s main electric power station.
Walter Defends Sarajevo was one of the most popular films to come out of socialist Yugoslavia, and it saw the participation of acting legends from former Yugoslavia: Velimir “Bata” Živojinović, Ljubiša Samardžić, Dragomir Gidra Bojanić, Relja Bašić....
The museum, which is dedicated to this major hit, offers visitors a multimedia display of the most important scenes from the film.
Visitors can watch the most impressive exterior scene on the big screen, and the main scenes that were shot indoors are shown within the museum itself.
The many authentic displays are dominated by figures of the main actors and director.
