New classical music festival in Sarajevo

After five years of being held in Switzerland, the Talis Festival & Academy will be held in Sarajevo for the first time. This classical music festival will run from July 30 to August 3.

2019/07/05

The concerts given as part of the Talis Festival & Academy will be held in the city’s monumental buildings – Vijećnica and Dom Armije.

The festival features an intensive program where young international artists (stipend recipients) and professionals (resident artists) perform together, this involves having Academy stipend recipients undergo intense preparation for high quality performances with a minimum number of rehearsals.

One of the primary characteristics of this manifestation is the open rehearsals, where members of the public can witness the learning process, then later enjoy the performances during concerts.

The festival offers a wide range of concerts, from timeless classics to contemporary works, so every concert will begin with a piece by a living composer, who will be present during the concert and afterward.

In this way, audiences in Sarajevo can follow magnificent works by W. A. Mozart, Miguel del Águila, Ludwig van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms... as performed by terrific musicians, including: Ming-Feng Hsin, Vladyslava Luchenko, Janka Szomor-Mekis, Beatriz Blanco, Andrea Kollé, Celia Craig, Filipa Nunes, Scott Pool, Austin Larson, Natsuki Fukasawa....
