It is risky to park on unlit streets and you should definitely be sure not to leave any valuable items in clear view inside your car.

Parking in “No Parking” zones will be met with fines and your car could even be towed.

Sarajevo has three parking zones, “Parkomats” have been installed in all public parking areas and parking on these must be paid for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as well as on holidays.

The rate for parking in Zone 0 and Zone 1 is 2KM per hour and the rate for Zone 2 is 1KM per hour. There is a difference between Zone 0 and Zone 1 in that Zone 0 permits a maximum parking time of two hours.

Zone 0 takes in nine streets in the very center of town: Aščiluk, Branilaca Sarajeva, Ćemaluša, Ćumurija, Despićeva, Gimnazijska, Hadži Ristića, Kulovića, Radićeva, as well as Safvet Bega Bašagića to Petke, Sagrdžije to Ćemerlina and Zelenih Beretki.

Zone 1 covers public parking areas within Sarajevo Canton, which includes 74 streets in Stari Grad Municipality and Centar Municipality, and Zone 2 takes in 78 streets.

Until now, parking was paid for until 8:00 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, and Sundays and holidays were free.

Paying for parking via contactless payments

UniCredit Bank has made it possible for credit card users to pay for parking on several of the city’s main streets via contactless payments. To pay, users simply place the card on the spot that is clearly marked on the parking meters.

These are the first self-service units in Bosnia and Herzegovina that make it possible for all Mastercard, Maestro and VISA credit card holders to make such payments without a sales attendant. The maximum amount you may pay in this way is 30KM.

This project will facilitate visits to popular tourist sites, and will allow Sarajevo visitors to pay for parking services without having to exchange currencies.

At this time, you may pay for parking services by using the parking meters that have been installed on the following streets in Centar and Stari Grad Municipalities: Brodac (Vijećnica), Obala Isa-bega Ishakovića, Hadžiristića, Branilaca SarajevaObala Kulina Bana, Mis Irbina, Musala, Reisa Džemaludina Čauševića, Obala Maka Dizdara (Skenderija Bridge).
