The Novo Sarajevo International Center for Children and Youth is located in the Sarajevo neighborhood, Grbavica, in Novo Sarajevo Municipality.
The Center is housed in the former Dom Kulture Vaso Pelagić, which was founded in 1961 and it became a place where big names on Sarajevo’s pop-rock scene, as well as well known writers and those who worked in the realms of film, theater and sports, all got their start.
The Dom Kulture was badly damaged during the war in the 1990s and, immediately following the war, it was home to the newspaper publishing company, Avaz.
The Novo Sarajevo International Center for Children and Youth was founded in 2001 by Novo Sarajevo Municipality with the aim of serving as a place where young people can gather and helping to activate their creative potential.
The Center hosts regular events, such as different kinds of workshops, exhibitions, performances for children and youth, concerts, festivals, sporting events…
The Center also has a concert hall that can accommodate 1,000 standing visitors, a career development center, a congress hall where weddings can be held, a dance hall, a rock climbing unit, an exhibition hall, a music studio and several office spaces for youth, arts and cultural organizations.
