The film collection can be divided into two parts: the first is made up of BiH films and documentaries (including BiH’s first short sound film, Love in Sarajevo, from 1936), as well as a copious amount of supplementary film material.
The second part comprises 751 old movies, including many masterpieces of “the Seventh Art”.
The total length of all the film reels in Kinoteka’s archive would exceed 1,000 kilometers!
The library houses a vast collection of books about film (written in both local and foreign languages), as well as film magazines and other film-related material. The library has a complete collection (1967-2009) of the BiH film magazine, Sineast.
Kinoteka’s regular program is largely dedicated to films that belong to the cultural heritage of both BiH and the entire world.
