Founded by Lejla Nuhić and Ajla Šarić, who studied together at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, the brand was born from their shared passion for printmaking and experimenting with materials. Their first piece—earrings made from a graphic printing plate—marked the start of a creative journey that grew from a hobby into a recognizable artistic signature.
Unlike traditional goldsmith techniques, Werkstatt uses printmaking methods such as copper etching, drypoint, and aquatint. The result is jewelry that looks like it belongs in a gallery, yet is designed for everyday life.
Their aesthetic is minimalist, sculptural, and often geometric. Each piece carries the imprint of the maker’s hand and tells a unique story shaped by its wearer.
Werkstatt jewelry is made from zinc, brass, silver, and 24k gold plating. Each item is crafted by hand, either in small series or as one-of-a-kind piece. The process is neither quick nor simple, which is exactly what gives each piece its intimate, authentic feel that can’t be replicated by mass production.
You can find Werkstatt in the heart of Sarajevo’s Baščaršija, on Gazi Husrev-begova Street, at Alta Shopping Center, and online at www.werkstatt.ba.
