Throughout the month of August and part of September 2019, more than 500 works by 109 authors from 10 different countries were submitted as part of the My Sarajevo photo contest.
The Sarajevo Navigator Foundation, organizer of the photo contest and exhibit, is using this activity to mark an important jubilee – the 150th issue of the monthly city guide, Sarajevo Navigator, as well as the 1,500,000 copies of this publication that have been distributed over the 13 years of its existence.
Participants could submit works to seven categories: history, architecture, nature, tourist attractions, food and drink, old trades and panoramic shots of the city.
During the opening, prizes were awarded to the authors of photos in all seven categories, and the items given were prepared by members of the Destination Sarajevo Partners Club: Samusa Jewelry, BH Crafts, Magaza, Egoist Gallery, LisicaLisica Showroom, Bazerdžan and Royal with Cheese.
The Destination Sarajevo Partners Club platform, which was started by Sarajevo Navigator, promotes Sarajevo as a destination and has more than 300 members today.
Here is a list of the winners and categories: Adi Smajić (history), Amar Hodžić (architecture), Merima Mulić (nature), Hamza Selimović (tourist attractions), Selma Ćerimagić (food and drink), Dora Fulop (old trades) and Samir Geko (panoramic shots of the city).
Nataša Musa, President of the Sarajevo Navigator Foundation, presented the prizes for each category, and representatives of the City Administration of the City of Sarajevo gave a City of Sarajevo ducat to Bakir Lojo, the final winner of the photo contest.
A special prize, a unique silver badge featuring a motif of Vijećnica, was awarded to Duško Toholj, the contest’s oldest participant. Toholj worked at the National and University Library of BiH for nearly half a century and, along with his colleagues, he saved tons of Vijećnica’s valuable books from going up in flames.
All of the authors of the photos on display received certificates of appreciation for participating in the photo contest.
The exhibit, “My Sarajevo,” will be open to the public until the manifestation, Summer in the Park – Hastahana, comes to an end on September 29.
