What to do in Sarajevo from February 14 to 20

Besides the many competitions taking place as part of the European Youth Olympic Festival – 2019 EYOF – which is being hosted by Sarajevo and East Sarajevo (Feb. 9-16), here we recommend the most interesting events taking place in Sarajevo from February 14 to 20.

If you are searching for handmade gifts, the Handmade with Love arts and crafts bazar will run until Friday, February 15 at UNITIC Business Center.

Thursday, February 14 is Valentine’s Day, so if you’d like to laugh it up during this year’s holiday, be sure to visit Dom Mladih and enjoy the cabaret show, Šon Fon Kupidon, with Sarajevo actor Dragan “Maca” Marinković.

That same day, an exhibit of photos with motifs of Budapest opens at Brusa Bezistan. Two master photographers from Hungary, Imre Kinski and Ottó Kaiser, are behind the exhibit, which will be on display until February 28.

If you like to paint, Balkantina Gastro Tourist Agency is organizing a special edition of Colors and Wine on its premises (Pehlivanuša 5) this Thursday, with fine wines and delicious truffle delicacies.

That same day, you can attend some of the many pop rock gigs being held around town, whether you decide to attend the concert by Vlado Podany at Aquarius Vils; the show by acoustic duo Esma and Olmo at S One Sky Lounge, or Mirza i Panduri’s performance at Underground.

We suggest that blues lovers head over to Jazzbina Sarajevo, where The Blues Train will perform that same evening; and if you’re into astrology, be sure to visit Coloseum Club, where Žarko Gambiroža, the best known astrologist in the region, will tell you if your stars are aligned. This event will be followed by Neno Murić’s concert.

On Friday, February 15, you have a chance to follow the official closing ceremony for EYOF in East Sarajevo, where Belgrade bands Van Gogh and Miligram will perform.

If you’d like to become familiar with traditional BiH dances and songs, on Friday the Kolo Bosansko ensemble will be giving a concert at BKC entitled 25 Years After.

Roman Petrović Gallery will host the exhibit, Three Points of Touch, with works by Montenegrin artists Nada Kažić, Vana Prelević and Katarina Švabić. The exhibit will be on display until February 28.

Those who are fond of Split singer Petar Grašo will enjoy the concert he is giving this Friday at Dom Mladih, and if you prefer music by the all-female band from Novi Sad, The Frajle, don’t miss their performance at Aquarius Vils.

The Red Bull RapLika Hip Hop Night returns to Underground on Friday with a show by Belgrade writer and rapper Marčelo, and Belgrade RnB DJ and producer Architect (known for his illuminated mask) is coming to Trezor.

Sarajevo singer Hari Mata Hari will be giving a concert that same night at Pivnica HS, where he will perform favorites by other singers, the loveliest sevdalinkas and his own hits.

Holiday Hotel will hold the 2019 Sarajevo Wine Fest on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 15 & 16), giving you a chance to become acquainted with more than 80 vendors and the best products by wine and food producers in BiH and the region. Music will be provided by Klapa Niko from Zadar.

Youngsters will have great fun at Dom Mladih during the Kids Kinđurijada on Saturday, February 16.

This Saturday will also see plenty of parties, like the show by DJ El Mano on Bjelašnica, which is taking place as part of the Telemach Winterhana Market & Fun Zone, and there’s the show by DJ Nixon & Amina Hamzić at Opera Cafe BarMerakoon will play at S One Sky Lounge and Sarajevo DJs Calkins & 2Odd will play at Silver & Smoke.

Swede Aril Brikha, one of the world’s most popular techno DJs, will do a show at the Garden of Dreams party at Studio 1 (RTV building).

Those who visit Jahorina on Sunday, February 17 can enjoy some live gigs at Lavina Hotel, which will be lining up nightly performances throughout the winter ski season.

If you love jazz, don’t miss the performance by Sarajevo Jazz Guerilla at Jazzbina Sarajevo on Monday, February 18.

On Tuesday, February 19, the famous Croatian actor, Zlatan “Zuhra” Zuhrić, is coming to Dom Mladih to perform the comedy, Vinegar and Son, a play that talks about generation gaps.

That same day, the Turksoy Chamber Orchestra will play at Vijećnica as part of the Sarajevska Zima (Sarajevo Winter) Festival.

And musician and producer Graham Stacey from Great Britain will perform at Monument on Wednesday.
