What to do in Sarajevo from February 28 to March 6

The beginning of the last winter month is chock full of various events, and here we have selected the most interesting ones taking place from February 28 to March 6.

On Thursday, February 28, the day before BiH Independence Day (March 1), two exhibits that testify to our country’s centuries of history will open in Sarajevo.

You can view, Medieval Decrees and Seals of Bosnian Rulers and Administrators, a traveling exhibit by the Museum of Tešanj that will be on display at Brusa Bezistan until March 7. And the exhibit, Medieval Bosnia, will open at St. Ante Gallery, an exhibition space in the St. Anthony of Padua Franciscan Church and Monastery, and will be available for viewing until March 21.

An exhibit of works by Italian artist Gianluca Palazzolo will open on Thursday at Preporod Gallery as part of the Sarajevska Zima Festival. It will remain on display until March 6.

On Thursday, basketball lovers can follow the Sarajevo Spars as they take on Sutjeska at the Novo Sarajevo Sports Hall. This event is part of the 20th round of the ABA League.

Also this Thursday, the versatile JAL, a band from Novi Sad, is coming to Jazzbina Sarajevo.

The exhibit, A Story of Počitelj, will be on display at Roman Petrović Gallery beginning Friday, March 1 and will run until March 14.

I, the Bosnian, a comedy by Indira Kučuk-Sorguč, will have you laughing on Friday at the Center for Culture and Youth for Municipality Centar Sarajevo.

If you’d like to close out the workweek with some dancing, you can choose from among several parties that will be held on Friday. Berlin DJ Sam Shure, whose sets combine a mixture of jazz and house, will be coming to Trezor that night; Serbian DJ and producer Scalameriya will keep the crowds happy at Dom Mladih; and Silver & Smoke will see shows by Serbian DJ Milojko Jarić Tebra and BiH DJ Bojan Jović (better known as Bonjasky), who is also a member of the electronic music duo, After Affair.

On Saturday, March 2, Jahorina will see an annual race among famous people who love this Olympic Mountain, with former Yugoslav skier Bojan Križaj, singer Frano Lasić, stand-up comic Peđa Bajović…all competing.

On Saturday, you can follow another terrific live in HD performance by the New York Metropolitan Opera, La Fille du Régiment, at Kamerni Theater 55.

If you like football, FC Željezničar will host FC Mladost DK at Grbavica Stadium (Sunday, March 3) for the 21st round of the BiH Premier League.

The Handicrafts Festival, which features works by BiH crafters, artisans and artists, will be held from Monday (March 4) to Saturday (March 9) at Trg Djece Sarajeva, in front of BBI Center.

On Monday, an exhibit of works by Montenegrin artist Milutin Obradović will open at Novi Hram Gallery, and will remain on display until March 10.

On Wednesday, March 6, SARTR will host a performance of All’Arrabbiata by the Sderot Adama dance company from Israel. This event is taking place as part of the Sarajevska Zima Festival.

One of the most popular Serbian stand-up comedians, Nenad Danilović, better known as Neša Bridžis, will have you laughing at Brew Imperial Society - BIS on March 6.
