  • Would you like to try some delicious, traditional Bosnian food in an authentic Bosnian house that has a homey atmosphere? Then this tour is exactly what you're looking for!

The tour will take you to a Bosnian house in Vratnik, one of Sarajevo's oldest neighborhoods, where you will experience the hospitality we are known for, and also try some BiH specialties.

Over dinner you will hear about the rich history of Bosnia, its cultures, traditions and cuisines. You'll find out which foods had an influence on local cooking throughout history, you'll learn about the authentic elements of home cooking, and you will learn – step by step – how to prepare delicious foods that you can try for yourself.

You will be served a real traditional dinner, just like the ones prepared when special guests and family members visit someone’s home. You'll try stew, followed by specialties like sarma (stuffed grape leaves, filled with meat and rice); sogan dolma (stuffed onions) and stuffed peppers, and there's veal kebabs for meat lovers. You're sure to have heard that Sarajevans are especially proud of their burek (meat-filled phyllo dough), and here you’ll have a chance to try some burek made according to an old recipe, plus many other dishes.

For dessert, you can expect two kinds of traditional cakes, which will be a delightful treat after dinner. Dessert will be served with some coffee – the cornerstone of social life in BiH.

    Notes:

There must be at least two people for the tour to be given; reservations are required.

The cost of the tour includes: a traditional Bosnian dinner (appetizer, main dish, dessert, drinks); an evening with a local family in a Bosnian home, transportation, pickup and drop-off at your hotel/apartment.

Neither alcohol nor items containing pork will be served during the meal, as these are not used in traditional Bosnian cooking.

The tour is given in English, and if you'd like to reserve a spot on a tour that is offered in the local languages, Spanish, Arabic or Turkish, we ask that you contact the Meet Bosnia Travel Agency directly.

Recommendation: Come with an empty stomach, be in a good mood, bring your camera.
