Top events in Sarajevo from March 14 to 20

The interesting events in Sarajevo just don’t seem to stop, so whether you love exhibits; blues, pop-rock or classical music concerts; electronic music parties or winter sports, here we’ve selected the most interesting events taking place from March 14 to 20.

An exhibit of works by Macedonian artists will open at the Academy of Fine Arts on Thursday, March 14. The display is part of the Sarajevska Zima (Sarajevo Winter) Festival and will be available for viewing until March 20.

If you like blues, that same night at Jazzbina the Nikola Čubrilo Band will be promoting their album, Going Down the Road, which mixes tunes by old blues masters with modern sounds.

An opening for the exhibit of paintings by Nataliya Andreeva Salihović will be held on Friday, March 15 at Roman Petrović Gallery. The exhibit will be open to the public until March 22.

On Friday you can follow Versus – Pearl Jam Tribute Band when they play at Underground, as well as Kanda, Kodža i Nebojša from Belgrade when they perform at Jazzbina.

That same night at Cinemas Club Sloga, Croatian singer Mile Kekin, frontman for Hladno Pivo, will present his first solo album, Kuća bez Krova. And the night will close out with DJs from Sarajevo, Forniva and DJ Jasmina, at Silver & Smoke.

The 4th edition of the Sarajevo Irish Festival will see a full program of events (on March 15 and 16), which will be taking place around St. Patrick’s Day. There’s the gala night, a concert by the Irish band, Notify, and Sarajevo’s Broken House Band; a screening of the film, The Breadwinner....

On Saturday, March 16, be sure to plan a visit to Jahorina, where the Red Bull Home Run will be held. This massive downhill event for skiers and snowboarders will be followed by an after-party.

The exhibit, “Identity,” which is dedicated to BiH photographer Mladen Pikulić, opens on Saturday at Jelićeva Photo Gallery in the Center for Culture and Youth for Municipality Centar.

Also that same night at the center, sevdah fans will enjoy the event, Sevdalinka Evening, dedicated to popular BiH sevdah interpreter Safet Isović.

On Saturday, Croatian singer Goran Karan will give a concert at Coloseum Club, and Serbian DJ Scalameriya is preparing a set for the whole evening at Studio1.

On Tuesday, March 19, Preporod Gallery will host an exhibit of works by Kosovar artist Şükran Zaim. The exhibit is organized as part of Sarajevska Zima and will run until March 29.

The Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra will give a concert at the Home of the Armed Forces of BiH (Dom Armije) to mark the next to the last day of Sarajevska Zima (Wednesday, March 20).  

The 5th Annual Sarajevo Coffee Fest, an international festival for coffee, tea, chocolate and related cafe equipment, will be held March 20 and 21 at My FACE, where many companies will be presenting their offerings for this magical beverage. The popular Sarajevo Latte Art Challenge will also be held as part of this event.
