The oldest city gallery, the National Gallery of BiH, was founded way back in 1946, and this Thursday (Nov. 22) it will be hosting A Collection within a Collection, an exhibit of works from Mirko Komosar’s private collection. There will be 250 pieces by BiH and Yugoslav artists from the 20th century, and the exhibit will be on display until January 15, 2019.
That same evening, Croatian Matica (a heritage foundation) will be organizing A Musical Evening by Sarajevo Gymnasiums, a terrific concert set to take place at the Home of the BiH Army Hall (Dom Armije).

If you like to paint, don’t miss another edition of Paints and Wine, as organized by Balkantina, a gastro-cultural agency. During this three-hour gathering you’ll enjoy sampling some delicious appetizers made with Livno cheese, along with Zadro wines, and at the end of the evening, you can take home the work you painted among interesting people.
Finish off Thursday with a great party, because that evening Underground Club will be celebrating its 7th “birthday” with performances by ProRocks, Starbridge, Weltschmerz and Deep Now.

On Friday, November 23, Sarajevo artist Daniel Premec will open an exhibit of his works, Artificial Love, (on display until Dec. 14) at Brodac Contemporary Art Gallery. GSU Brodac is located next to Vijećnica, in Beledija, which used to be the city administration building. It was turned into a notorious prison when Sarajevo was under the Independent State of Croatia, and it now serves as a residential building.

On Friday at Kriterion Art Cinema, Croatian writer and photographer Davor Rostuhar will be giving a multimedia lecture entitled, Polar Dream, which is also a promotional event for the book of the same name. Davor’s 47-day expedition made him the first Croatian to travel from the edge of Antarctica to the South Pole.
Winter delights await you on Friday at the opening of the outdoor skating rink up at Sunnyland, where you can enjoy skating on the ice out in the clean air with a fantastic view of the city.

And since cold days can’t pass without having some warm woolen garments, we recommend that you visit the atrium at Europe Hotel, where the Big knitting Party will be held. This day-long event is a chance to hang out with knitters from Udružene, as well as to find the perfect woolen item from among their collections, or to join in one of their courses, contests, workshops….
Not one, but two great concerts await you on Friday evening. Serbian singer Marko Louis will perform at the Dom Mladih amphitheater, and Pivnica HS is reserved for Sarajevo music legend, Haris Džinović.

Sarajevans are impatiently waiting for the opening of BIS – Brew Imperial Society, housed in what used to be the hall of Imperijal Cinema. The BIS team has been working hard on the interior of this facility, and you’ll have a chance to see the fruits of their labor for this project on Friday, when BIS will temporarily open its doors with the big Jameson Irish Whiskey Party. And, if you’re in the mood for dancing at an electronic music party, that night Trezor will see shows by Der Dreier mit Dzigi, Marla Felis, Harido Benz….
Saturday, November 24 is full of different concerts: Aleksandra Radović, the Serbian singer with a great voice, will be performing at the Bosnian Cultural Center; and fans of the popular Tropico Band can sing along to their greatest hits at Coloseum Club.
After these terrific concerts, Silver & Smoke will be keeping its doors open until the morning hours, and Marius Lehnert x Bonjasky will be waiting for you.
Sunday, November 25 is BiH Statehood day, so this is the ideal time to visit the National Museum, which houses approximately four million items, including the “BiH birth certificate,” a copy of the Charter of Kulin Ban, BiH’s oldest state document, the oldest known written document among the South Slavs, and the first known diplomatic document issued by a Bosnian ruler.

The second edition of the Books in Niches publishers fair will run from Sunday, November 25 to Thursday, November 29 at the Bosnian Cultural Center. Book lovers will be treated to a rich program that aims to present authors and the newest publications by regional publishers, while also offering book promotions, readings, public discussions and workshops.
If you would like to enjoy some good music on Sunday, walk on over to SARTR in the evening, when BiH guitar virtuoso Boško Jović will present his new album, Voyage. This artist’s special interpretation brings traditional Balkan numbers to life, and his skillful arrangements combine sevdah, classical music, folk and jazz.

Monday is the time for Game Night at The Brew Pub, so you can have a nice evening with friends and enjoy music, a film/pub quiz, craft beer and homemade chips.
And, just like every other Monday, Cinemas Sloga will be holding its Latino Night, so you can start off the week with some dancing and Latin rhythms.

If you’re interested in socially responsible art forms, documentary films from around the world, and different discussions and debates, be sure to attend the Pravo Ljudski Film Festival, which starts on Wednesday, November 28 and runs until December 3. The festival will be held at Meeting Point Cinema, Kriterion Art Cinema, the Ars Aevi Museum of Contemporary Art and the Academy of Performing Arts.
On Wednesday, you can attend a concert by French pianist Philippe Devaux, as organized by the French Cultural Center at the Bosniak Institute.
For fine arts fans, we recommend Elementary Gradations – Sea and Mountain, an exhibit by the International Art Colony that will be on display at Roman Petrović Gallery from November 28 to December 5.
